A look at the latest varsity action in Sachem …

Sachem North boys soccer: In quite possibly the biggest win in the post-Frank Schmidt era at Sachem, Harrison Weilbacher scored the game-winning double-overtime goal to beat Commack Thursday, 2-1. Brandon Arango scored the other goal. Sachem is now 5-3 in League I and on pace to clinch a playoff spot as one of the top teams in the county.

Sachem East boy soccer: Sachem beat Ward Melville, 1-0, with help from Vinny Oliveto, who scored the only tally of the game. Chris Gutierrez scored the only goal of the contest.

Sachem East girls tennis: On Wednesday, the Sachem East girls tennis team beat Comsewogue, 5-2. It was their last home match of the year and senior night. Sam May won at first singles 6-1, 6-2, while Jenna Scarola played well in her second singles match. Victoria Coffaro beat her third singles opponent 6-3, 6-1 and Rachel Wadler won in a long three set thriller at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. Margaret Hartofilis and Lauren Doucette played a tough match at first doubles, while Charlee Timmerman and Malorie Nitz won easily at second doubles 6-1, 6-1, and Val Luutran and Melody Ribeiro beat their opponents in a third set tiebreaker 7-5, 4-6, 7-2. The girls finish up their final two matches of the season traveling.

Sachem East boys volleyball: Sachem East beat Commack, 3-1.

Sachem North boys volleyball: Sachem North lost to Hills, 3-0.
