Sachem East girls tennis: The Sachem East girls tennis team beat Sachem North, 6-1, on Friday evening. It was the last match of the year for both squads, and both teams played some excellent tennis. Sam May defeated Sam Pedneault in a three set thriller at first singles. Jenna Scarola played great at second singles in her 6-1 6-2 victory over Kirsten Bellow, and Victoria Coffaro beat Madalyn Iadanza 6-4, 6-0 at third. Hana Berrada went to a third set tiebreaker before winning at fourth singles in an excellent match against Marissa Jones.
Margaret Hartofilis and Val Luutran played terrifically against North’s first doubles team of Sharon Luebs and Veronica Urbom winning 6-2, 7-6, 8-6. Charlee Timmerman and Malorie Nitz had an awesome come back at second doubles over Sam Coggin and Mallory Menneci, winning, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. Melody Ribeiro and Danielle Robertson played Alexa Pedneault and Katherine Janda at third, losing 1-5, default, due to an injury. East finished with a 7-7 record in League 6.
