Sachem alum and Army sergeant Jason Santora continues to be remembered for his service to this country.

This weekend a dedication ceremony was held at the Brookhaven Town memorial on the grounds of the Medford Athletic Complex in his honor.

“I picked this place because we had a lot of great memories here,” Jason’s father, Gary Santora, told Newsday. “There isn’t a minute or day I don’t think about him. Some days are better than others.”

Santora graduated from Sachem High School in 2003 and enlisted in the United States Army in 2006. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalian, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning and was killed in action in April 2010 during a deployment in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star in January 2011.
