The first F in FAFSA is for free

Completing the FAFSA is the first step to receive federal student aid and can be a daunting task for high school seniors and their families.

Students and parents should be reminded that the FAFSA is free to complete and there are several free resources are available to assist them.

  • The online application has a “Help and Hints” bar located on the right side to help through difficult areas.
  • Mapping Your Future provides a webinar that will provide an overview on completing the FAFSA.
  • College Goal Sunday provides free FAFSA completion workshops for parents and students in various locations throughout the country.
  • Going2College.org allows students to explore career options, plan for college, and locate financial aid sources.
