It’s my personal belief that more people would be inclined to write a letter if a form letter was available as well as the names/addresses of the people we need to contact. Then we would be able to add our own personal message to the letter. I’ve been through this with the Early Intervention program & have noted that more people will participate when a form letter is available.

I agree with Sheri. If a generic letter was written with all of the facts, it would be much easier for everyone in the community to copy and paste and then add why the community is so valuable to us. Example…what portion of our tax dollar is going to the state and how much of it is being returned?
Personally…another reason for Long Island to become it’s own state. I am tired of supporting the rest of NY when it doesn’t come back to us.

I agree with the above comments…I would like to see an example to guide me. I also need more information to write this letter. A generic letter would be great!!

a generic letter to copy and paste is ideal and then we can add to it.most of us just don,t know what to write to make it sound right

Dear Governor Cuomo:
It is our understanding that State Aid figures will be reduced by 2,000,000 to the Sachem School District. Futhermore, it is our understanding that this will result in a negative impact on the educational programs that our students currently benefit from. As the parents of a special needs child who has been a member of the Sachem family for over 14 years, this presents a special dilemma.
We are asking that every effort be made to restore State Aid to our Sachem family in on order to avoid a negative impact on our children’s education. We are certainly mindful of the needs to minimize the tax burden on those already overwhelmed with high taxes but surely funds from a less important area could be considered for transfer to the School Aid category.
Thank you in advance for your considerartion of the above and anything that could be done to enhance aid to the Sachem District would be greatly appreciated.
Very truly ypurs,
Mr. and Mrs. T. McGoey

Well said, I think you may have the beginning of “The letter”, I hope you don’t mind if I copy and repast and allow others to do so as well and add additional comments, to build “The letter”.
Thank you for your support,
