Message from Sachem Superintendent Nolan

Sachem logoThe following is a note from Sachem Superintendent James Nolan:

As you may or may not know at this time, Sachem is scheduled to receive the same level of state aid that we received eight years ago. A school district is funded by state aid and taxes, so to think that Sachem will receive the same level of state aid that we received eight years ago is an insult to our community.

I would sincerely ask for your involvement in the following four ways:

  1. Please visit our website at Sachem.edu and look for the information on our Legislative Committee’s letter writing campaign. It is of paramount importance that we write letters and contact the governor and our elected officials to express our concerns.
  2. This Thursday, Feb. 28, our legislative committee is sponsoring a trip to Albany. They are asking that as many of our community members as possible join them on this bus trip to head to Albany and express our concerns.
  3. My third request is that you attend our school board meeting this Wednesday, Feb. 27 in the Samoset Auditorium and any other budget meetings between now and May. We need our entire community to be informed of the facts and to become actively involved in the budget process. Please attend this Wednesday’s meeting.
  4. Finally, my fourth request is that you mark your calendar for March 9 at 11 a.m. We will be holding a Sachem Rally to show our elected officials and Gov. Cuomo what Sachem is all about and how much the Sachem Family cares about our children. We will celebrate the great history of the Sachem district and make the folks in Albany aware of how important our children are to us.
