It’s been a sluggish start for the Sachem East boys lacrosse team thus far, going 0-4 out of the gates. That changed Friday with a 12-5 win over Middle Country in a Division I game at home.
Mike Buencamino led East with four goals and three assists. John Vigh also had fourth goals and three assists.

Sachem North boys lacrosse: Sachem 9, Penfield 8 … Sachem (3-2) picked up its third win of the season after beating New Jersey’s Penfield High, 9-8, on Friday. Shane DeBoer scored the game-winning goal for the Flaming Arrows with five minutes left in regulation. Sean O’Brien led Sachem with three goals. DeBoer scored two.
Sachem baseball: Sachem East 9, Sachem North 3 … In the first of three League II rivalry games between Sachem East and Sachem North this season, East won the first battle, 9-3, on Thursday afternoon. Anthony Telesca led East (4-1) with a complete game two-hitter and also went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run. North is 1-4.
Sachem East girls lacrosse: Sachem 16, North Babylon 4 … Casey Gelderman scored give goals and added three assists for the Arrows (2-1) in the win over North Babylon on Thursday. Katie Trombetta also scored four goals.
Sachem North girls golf: Sachem 9, Patchogue-Medford 0 … Brianna Napolitano shot 48 on a par 35 to lead Sachem.
Sachem East boys golf: Sachem East 6.5, Middle Country 2.5 … Arsh Sethi shot a 12 over 47 to lead Sachem.
Sachem North boys golf: Kings Park 6.5, Sachem 2.5 … On Thursday, Sachem lost, 6.5-2.5, to Kings Park at Middle Island Country Club.
Sachem North softball: Lindenhurst 14, Sachem 13
Sachem East softball: Longwood 12, Sachem 6
Sachem North boys tennis: Patchogue-Medford 6, Sachem 1
Sachem East boys tennis: Ward Melville 7, Sachem 0
