They’re not eliminated just yet, but the Sachem East baseball team suffered a set back after losing to Longwood Wednesday in the second round of the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs.
Third-seeded Sachem East (16-6) allowed an RBI-single from No. 11 Longwood’s (14-8) Camden Orologio in the top of the seventh to drop the ball game, 5-4.
East will host No. 12 Smithtown West (13-9) in the lower elimination bracket on Friday, May 17 at 4 p.m. The baseball playoffs are double-elimination.
Sachem East pitcher Anthony Telesca received the loss on the mound.
Both Telesca and Dan Hetzel hit home runs for East in the loss.
