For the third straight season, the Sachem East field hockey team has won a Suffolk County Class A championship. Yes, you can say dynasty.

The Arrows beat Smithtown East, 3-0, at Dowling Sports Complex in Brookhaven Saturday night, and will play in the Long Island Class A championship on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

“It’s a cool feeling to know a lot of kids have stepped up this season,” Sachem coach Tina Moon said. “It’s really exciting. I never expected something like this. We’ve had to work really hard. We had to take a really experienced group of kids and a younger group of kids and tried to bring them together. They did an amazing job and it’s been an amazing experience.”

Sachem East (18-0) was led by Taylor Giordano, who scored two first half goals. Cara Trombetta scored Sachem’s other goal in the second half.

Desteny Holder recorded seven saves in the shutout for Sachem, her 15th of the season.

Sachem East has not lost a game since Oct. 24, 2011, a stretch of 739 days. That’s a mark of 61-1 over the last three seasons, including 47 straight since the last loss.
