Sachem North had a perfect 15-0 record and was a likely candidate to contend for a county and Long Island title this season, but Sachem East had other ideas.

In front of a packed house in the back gymnasium at Sachem North on Monday, Sachem East upset its in-district rival, 3-1, in the Suffolk County Class A semifinals and ended the storybook season.

Fourth-seeded Sachem East (13-3) will play for a Class A championship against No. 2 Lindenhurst on Thursday Westhampton High School at 6:30 p.m. This is a rematch of last year’s county championship, which saw Lindenhurst win a title.

Sean Harrington recorded 13 kills and 22 digs, while Ryan Cole had 23 kills and three blocks and Tyler Jones had 21 assists and 13 digs.

Top-seeded Sachem North finishes the season 15-1 and returns most of its talent to the court next season.
