Varsity teams have been tearing it up in Sachem lately. Here’s a look at some of the action over the past couple of days:
Sachem North Baseball: Connetquot series … Sachem North baseball has improved to 15-2 after picking up two wins this week against division rival Connetquot. On Monday, Sachem beat the Thunderbirds, 10-2, thanks to a complete game effort from Dennis Buckstein, who also had an RBI-single in a three-run first inning for the Flaming Arrows.
Sachem clinched the League II title on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over Connetquot. Nick Morena pitched a complete game, while Steven Foster was 3-for-5 with two runs and four stolen bases.
Sachem North Boys Lacrosse: Sachem 6, Bronxville 5 … Sachem North improved to 8-3 win a non-conference victory over Bronxville last weekend. Kevin Bragaglia scored with 4:31 left in the fourth quarter off an assist from Joe Caridi to snap a 5-5 game. Mike Calvagna went 13-for-15 in faceoffs, while Jacob Giacalone recorded 10 saves in the win.
Sachem North Girls Lacrosse: Sachem 12, Floyd 5 … Kat Avanzato and Jessica Mazliah each scored four goals, while Brooke Basso added three. Kaitlyn Lynch recorded 10 saves for Sachem (6-6), who has now won six straight games.
Sachem East Girls Lacrosse: Sachem 14, East Islip 13 (OT) … Katie Shanahan and Katie Trombetta both scored in the first overtime session against East Islip on Tuesday in a 14-13 victory. Sachem is now 7-3.

Sachem East Boys Lacrosse: Northport 13, Sachem 7
Sachem North Boys Track and Field: Sachem 81, Middle Country 60
Sachem East Boys Track and Field: Sachem 99, Lindenhurst 42 … Sachem East boys clinched a league championship with its 99-42 victory over Lindenhurst on Tuesday. Check Sachem Report Wednesday for a story about this meet.
