Merrimac students raise funds for Michael J. Fox Foundation

Last month, two Merrimac  fourth grade students, Jared Weinhaus and Connor Frank from Eileen Guider’s class, decided to make a difference in memory of loved ones.

The two boys combined efforts  reflect the school’s lighthouse mission. Students donated money and made a guess of how many jelly beans were in a jar. Students also wrote their names on a bunny to show their support. The bunnies are now  displayed near our 7 Habits tree.

The money will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation from Merrimac.

“Connor and Jared wanted to raise awareness about the disease and utilize our school community to make a donation to the support Michael J. Fox’s goal,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco.

Their efforts have made a difference and embody Michael J. Fox’s quote: “The cures we want aren’t going to fall from the sky. We have to get ladders and climb up and get them.”
