Sachem alum Evan Bloom was officially commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marines Corp in a ceremony on the U.S. Constitution in Boston.
Bloom, who also graduated from Dartmouth University, had the unique experience of attending Officer Candidate School while studying at an Ivy League university.
A strong student-athlete at Sachem, Bloom only increased his task list in college. While aiming to become a Marine and finish with an Ivy degree in four years, he also played football and lacrosse at the collegiate level.
He will report to TBS (The Basic School) in Quantico, Va. in September.
