Alum Kinkaid ready for permanent spot in NHL

Sachem alum Keith Kinkaid has increasingly proven himself in the professional hockey ranks. He has had a successful stint for the Albany River Rats, the AHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils and has become one of the top goaltending prospects in the league.

He already made his NHL debut and is now looking for a permanent home in Jersey.

With Martin Brodeur finally out of New Jersey, that paves the way for Corey Schneider to be the lead goalie with Kinkaid most likely slotted to be his backup, Devils General Manager Lou Lamoriello told NJ.com.

“I’m just happy they’re going to give me an opportunity, but nothing is set in stone,” Kinkaid said in the same article. “I still have to battle Clemmensen for the backup job. I’m just glad I have the opportunity to do so. It’s going to be a great competition in camp and I look forward to it.”
