A bit overdue, but still important nonetheless…

Recent Sachem East graduates Katie Doherty and Kathleen Everson were named First Team All-State in girls basketball for their efforts during the 2013-2014 season.

Doherty will play at Holy Cross next year, while Everson will play at Bryant.

This is the first time since 2010 – Kristen Doherty and Caitlin Hopkins – that Sachem East has two first team selections.

Doherty was named Suffolk County Girls Basketball Player of the Year as a senior. She also was an integral part on three Long Island championship field hockey teams and two state title teams.

Everson has the distinct honor of playing in more games than any girl in the history of Sachem East basketball having appeared in 116 during her five-year varsity career.

Both girls, who have left lasting legacies in the school and program, reached the 1,000-career points plateau this season.
