Sachem North senior Nick Morena has committed to play Division I baseball at Stony Brook University.
Morena said he’s wanted to attend the local university for quite some time and it meets his needs as a student-athlete.
“Stony Brook had always been my first choice,” said Morena, a pitcher, “and everything happened so quickly that I never got a chance to consider anywhere else.”
He hopes to help lead Sachem to the playoffs during his final season of high school ball and eventually the coveted Long Island championship.
Morena said he’ll see how far baseball can take him in life, but he is working towards a career in the medical field. He will major in biology at Stony Brook.
Stony Brook competes in the America East Conference.
