Sachem North’s Dylan Missry has committed to play at UCLA.

Sachem North senior Dylan Missry is doing his best to take our minds off the blizzard. As the snow piles up, Missry just let the world know he’s headed to sunny Southern California to play volleyball at UCLA.

“Can’t believe this is happening,” Missry said on Twitter, “just committed to UCLA #bruin.”

One of the premier volleyball recruits in America, and the top volleyball player to ever compete at Sachem, Missry will take his talents to the mecca of college volleyball and play for a program that has won a record 19 national championships.

He’ll have the good fortune of playing for coach John Speraw, a UCLA alum who is one of the coaches of the U.S. Men’s Olympic team.

Even with a laundry list of individual honors, Missry would be the first to tell you he’s most proud of his team’s New York State Championship and perfect 18-0 season during his senior year.

“We are extremely proud and excited for Dylan on his decision to commit to the storied UCLA Men’s Volleyball program,” said Sachem North volleyball coach Matt Rivera. “He is a terrific role-model that has worked extremely hard as a student-athlete to achieve his goals. Dylan has meant so much to the Sachem volleyball program and we know that his abilities and leadership will serve him well as he continues his academic and athletic career at such a prestigious university as UCLA.”
