Alum Jerry Figgiani pens new anthology

He has taught thousands of people in countless destinations, and he’s also written extensively about his craft and the many influential people he’s learned from over the years.

Figgiani has put his writing collection into a new anthology available on Amazon called “From the Minds of the Masters: The Inside Thoughts, Tips & Techniques From Modern Karate-Dos Best and Brightest.”

Figgiani, who graduated from Sachem in 1978, was an integral part of Sachem football’s first Suffolk County championship team in the fall of 1977. He is also the first running back in Sachem history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single-season and career. His career rushing totals still rank among the best ever in Sachem history.

A resident of Middle Island, N.Y., he is President/Founder of Shorin Ryu Karatedo International, an organization recognized around the world.

Through his extensive background and training in the martial arts, he has developed a unique way of bringing the kata to life. He is a sought-after seminar instructor who has the ability to enable students to understand not only the kata, but the function and application, thus making his seminars universal to any system. In addition, he is a published author and has won numerous awards in the martial arts industry for his accomplishments.
