The Sachem East Chess Team won the Suffolk County Championship in February.
This group of students has taken the team to new heights this year under the guidance of Dr. Wefer, who has been advising the club for more than 12 years.
Daniel Ivanov was named a county champion, while Herrick Lam and Tyler Machado took second and third place, respectively.
The team will be competing in the New York State championships on February 28.
