Sachem North alums Isaac Garcia-Cassani and Keira Wood were invited to represent SUNY Geneseo at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend.
The duo will be traveling to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina onMarch 13-14 with Roanoke College serving as the official host.
Garcia-Cassani enters the weekend as the top seed in the mile run with a time of 4:10.87, the third-fastest time in the nation this season. The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) individual champion and first-team all-conference pick, Garcia-Cassani’s winning mile time at the Fast Chance Invitational last Saturday at St. Lawrence was also the second-fastest ever run by a Geneseo runner.
Wood, an All-SUNYAC First-Team honoree, enters the championships ranked 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.68. Wood finished fifth in the event at the SUNYAC Championships.
Events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
