Sachem alum Vinny Pasceri’s original claim to fame was helping to found the Sachem Web Slingers.

Now he’s taken his tech skills to another level working at Microsoft in Seattle and has helped developed a new safety solution for students with special needs that tend to wander.

“I’ve always been passionate about EdTech and I still want to do something great for the world,” he said via email.

The program Pasceri has worked on is called Lighthouse, which is a small device attached to a student, uniquely identifying them to their teacher.

According to Microsoft, it provides confidence that students are where they are supposed to be and alerts you when they’re not.

When Pasceri, who graduated from Sachem in 1997, was at Sachem he worked with former tech director Mike Pomara to lead the Web Slingers, which were in the driver’s seat on creating the original Sachem.edu.
