Sachem East senior Drew Alfano won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division I pentathlon this past week.
The Maryland-bound Alfano scored 3,506 points, which was a 100-point improvement over his Suffolk County championship score.
Alfano is the first from Sachem East to win a boys track and field state championship.
