Long Island’s top field hockey dynasty in recent history, No. 5 Sachem East beat No. 5 Smithtown East, 1-0, in the Suffolk County Class A quarterfinals.
Cara Trombetta scored the game-winner on a breakaway with 42 seconds left in regulation.
Sachem will travel to top-seeded Ward Melville on Thursday for a semifinal game at 2:30 p.m.
