As part of Stanford University’s “Teacher Tribute Initiative,” Sachem North alumnus Rachel Heymach selected science teacher Phil Barbera to receive the honor based on the significant role he played in her intellectual, academic, social and personal development during high school.
Richard Shaw, Stanford’s Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, wrote in a letter to Sachem North Principal Patti Trombetta, “Mr. Barbera has had a meaningful impact on the lives and education of your students.”
Heymach, a very talented student-athlete at Sachem, graduated in 2015.
