Another year, another trip across the globe to teach the game he loves.
Sachem coaching legend Rick Mercurio, a member of the development committee for the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL), spent time in Taiwan during October giving clinics and lectures related to lacrosse.
Mercurio, who retired from coaching and teaching in Sachem in 2005, has traveled to some interesting spots across the world to teach the game. These locations include Belgium, Beijing, Bangkok and Moscow, among others.
The Taiwan Lacrosse Association has begun promoting the game to urban schools, and there is a strong interest in the country for the game at-large.
Mercurio is a member of the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame and the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
