Sachem North alum Dylan Missry made his collegiate regular season debut with the UCLA men’s volleyball team this week in a match against Ohio State.

The No. 5 Bruins beat the Buckeyes in a tournament at Penn State, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22.

Missry, who graduated from Sachem last June and was Long Island Volleyball Player of the Year en route to leading the Flaming Arrows to a New York State title, led the Bruins with 12 kills and also recorded four block assists.

Sachem North volleyball coaches Matt Rivera and Matt DiStefano were in attendance to watch Missry play since the match was on the east coast.

On another Sachem note, Sachem East alum Nick Laffin is a redshirt freshman at Ohio State. He did not play against UCLA, however.

UCLA is 3-0 to start the season and will be in action again next week against UC Irvine and UC San Diego.
