Lauren Harris isn’t the only athlete to record some outstanding racewalk news out of Sachem today.
Sachem alum Maria Michta-Coffey is just getting warmed up this year and captured her seventh straight indoor national championship with a big victory in Portland, Ore. Saturday afternoon.
Michta-Coffey finished with a time of 12:33.75, a personal best.
Katie Michta, her sister and also a Sachem alum, finished eighth in the race with a time of 14:45.12.
Michta-Coffey heads to Japan on Sunday to compete in the Asian championships. Soon enough she’ll be competing in the Olympic qualifier and eventually at Rio this August for her second Olympic games.
