Tamarac gym gets red, black and gold look

The gymnasium walls at Tamarac Elementary School recently got a new paint job. Through a collaborative effort led by parent Denise Bisaccio, the walls now sport Sachem colors and sayings, as well as inspirational quotes.

“Art has always been something I’ve done all my life,” said Mrs. Bisaccio, who spent about six months perfecting the walls. “I offered my services for the cafeteria and it snowballed into doing the gym. I feel great it looks this way now for the kids.”

Mrs. Bisaccio, who also painted the walls in the cafeteria (which was featured on this page last year), along with principal Michael Saidens, worked with the school’s Building Leadership Team, PTA and Father’s Club to craft a plan and execute. The building custodians were also instrumental in the process.

“She has been unbelievable in donating her talents and time,” said Mr. Saidens. “When you have a beautiful school it makes kids excited about their school. It makes our school beautiful.”
