Merrimac fifth grade students leave legacy

Merrimac Elementary’s fifth grade students helped create a legacy project at the building.

The students were inspired by the Book of the Month at Merrimac titled, “ONLY ONE YOU” by Linda Kranz.

They shared their idea with Ms. Jenna Motroni , the school’s art teacher, and she found a way to help their idea take shape.

The book is a strong example of Habit One of the Covey Leadership principles: Be Proactive. It’s about taking responsibility for yourself and the choices you make each day.

The quote,”There’s only one you in this great big world, make it a better place,”  serves as a message for the entire Merrimac community.

“These words, simple yet powerful, are meant to comfort and guide the Merrimac student body as they go about exploring the world, setting and resetting goals, reflect on new learning as well as take action to make a difference,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco. “The art mural will remind all of our students these words of wisdom as they live life each day in our school.”
