Sachem alum Maria Michta-Coffey will compete in the Rio Olympics on Friday, August 19 in the 20k racewalk. This is her second Olympic Games after competing in the London 2012 games.

Michta-Coffey graduated from Sachem in 2004. She is an inductee of both the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame and the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame.
