Samoset Middle School collected almost 7,000 pounds of food in one week and won the contest sponsored by 96.1 and Long Island Cares.
The school received an anti-bullying presentation by Kym Laube from Hugs, Inc. and a private concert by The Band Perry in late September.
This tremendous group effort, organized by Samoset guidance, included donations by students, faculty and community members.
Individual students who generated a large amount of donations were treated to tickets to The Band Perry concert later that evening at NYCB Theater at Westbury.
