Starting a few days after Halloween, Samoset Middle school in conjunction with the Samoset PTSA, began collecting unused or unwanted candy for the 2016 Halloween Candy for Heroes program.

The program is run by Operation Gratitude which annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas.

The students, teachers, and families of Samoset donated a staggering 12 boxes of candy weighting approximately 300 pounds!
