Tamarac Elementary leads way with breast cancer awareness, fundraising efforts

Tamarac has participated in the SCTA fundraising for Breast Cancer research for the last 6 years.  We have sold and worn shirts on Fridays during the month of October, have done week long “Loose Change” collections and started an annual student walk.

This cause has become even more meaningful to us here at Tamarac through the years as they have watched some of their own become affected by breast cancer.

This year, they were excited to extend their fundraiser by adding pink pinwheels and bracelets. The students were each given a pinwheel to place in the ground at the entrance of the building. Staff and students were encouraged to wear the bracelets every day.

Tamarac is so grateful for a generous donation we received from the Sorrentino family as well.  They gifted them two beautifully hand crafted wooden ribbons to display out front.

Each year they watch as donations grow and grow and are so appreciative that the Tamarac Community has helped us raise over $1,400 this year that they can donate to Advocates for Hope and The Carol Baldwin Foundation through the SCTA.
