Sachem alum Monica Piga Wallace won election to the New York State Assembly on Election Day.

Wallace, who resides in western, New York, attended SUNY Binghamton and Buffalo Law School.

She taught at Buffalo following her graduation and has previously worked as a law clerk for a federal judge.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Monica Wallace to the Assembly,” said New York State Assemblyman Al Graf. “I am very proud of everything she has accomplished. It is not too often that you get the opportunity to welcome a person originally from your district into the Assembly. Her track record speaks for itself. I have no doubts about her ability to represent her constituents, she truly is an inspiration. I look forward to working with her on important legislation that will benefit all the people in New York.”
