Both Sachem East and Sachem North won their first-round Class A Suffolk County playoff field hockey matches on Tuesday afternoon.
No. 6 Sachem East beat No. 11 Smithtown West, 5-0. Kristen Shanahan led Sachem with three assists. Emily Rodriguez scored two goals, and Emily Allingham, Katien Allen and Lindsey Gelderman all scored one.
No. 5 Sachem North beat No. 12 Newfield, 8-0. Carolyn O’Brien scored two goals and added two assists. Molly Kearns had three points (2g, 1a) and Victoria Taylor had two points (1g, 1a). Also scoring points were Abigail Bandl (1a), Kara Milone (1g), Jessica Smith (1a), Grace Lipponer (1g) and Isabella Lorenzo (1g).
The quarterfinals will take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Sachem East will travel to No. 3 Northport, while Sachem North will travel to No. 4 Smithtown East.
