Sachem North alum is latest from community to make Sports Illustrated special section.
Sachem North alum Isaac Garcia-Cassani has reached another level in his athletic abilities as a runner at SUNY Geneseo.
He won his third straight SUNYAC championship in the 8k in Potsdam this fall with a time of 26:42.9. Last year he won an Atlantic Region title, and placed fourth at the Division III championships. This year he finished sixth at the national championships and was an All-American again.
For this efforts he was selected for this week’s “Faces in the Crowd” section of Sports Illustrated.
The 2014 Sachem graduate was All-State as a senior. He also currently holds the Sachem North record for the mile for indoor (4:21) and outdoor track (4:15).
Sachem has had the good fortune of three current or past student-athletes be recognized in the Faces in the Crowd column. Sachem North alum and volleyball star Dylan Missry, and Sachem East alum and racewalk star Lauren Harris have both graced the pages in recent years.
