Sachem East Boys Finish Non-Conference Play with Win

Sachem East beat Miller Place, 52-39, on December 29. Three Arrows were in double figures; Ryan Sheehy led the team with 11 points.

Sachem North Boys Lose Tough Games

On January 2, the Sachem North boys basketball team lost, 62-61, in the final seconds on a layup from Pat-Med’s Nathaniel Ormond. Sachem North’s Bradley Anancreon recorded a career-high 36 points in the loss. Sachem North also lost on January 8 in overtime against Commack, 62-57, at home.

Sachem North Girls Open Conference Play with Two Wins

Sachem North started off league play with a victory over Pat-Med, 51-28. Annie Keenan had 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Kennadie Hallum had 14 points, five points and six steals on January 3.

The Flaming Arrows played League I rival Ward Melville on January 12 and pulled out a close one, 58-57. Hailey Hallum hit free throws with under a minute left to give Sachem North the win. North led the entire game until the Patriots went ahead with four minutes remaining. Lisa Galante hit a two-point shot with 1:20 to give Sachem the lead, 54-52. Annie Keenan had 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Cosgrove Helps Sachem East Grab League Wins

Sachem East recorded two early league wins, starting on January 2 against Brentwood, 51-48. Danielle Cosgrove had 31 points and eight rebounds, and she also sunk free throws under a minute to give the Arrows the lead. Hannah Ruberto had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Almost a week later on January 8, the Arrows beat Pat-Med, 65-25. Cosgrove had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead Sachem to two consecutive league wins. Emma Lange and Mackenzie Murphy added 10 points each in the win.

The next day the Arrows lost to Longwood, 47-46, and it came down to the final second where the Lions hit one of two free throws to win the game. Cosgrove finished with 20 points.

Sachem North Wrestling Wins Big League Match

Coming off a few winter tournaments, Sachem North wrestling lost a tough match to Bayshore, 37-34, on January 5. Joesph Confessore, Nicholas Cruz and Matt Keegan had pins for Sachem. Five days later, they came back strong with a two-point victory, 35-33, over Lindenhurst on January 10. Alezandro Aponte won the final match in the 170-pound matchup. Erich Vollbeher and  Marquez Rhodes had pins as well.

A Rare Tie for Sachem East Wrestling

Sachem East matched up against Seaford on January 6 and tied, 34-34. Logan McGloine, Angel Pineda and Mark Kmiotek had pins.

DiMaggio Leads Sachem Bowling

Justin DiMaggio bowled a 215 in game three and a series of 622 to lead Sachem.

Kullkarni and Naujokas Turn In Big Matches

Emily Kulkarni bowled a 216 in game three to break a tie and give the Arrows the win. Amanda Naujokas bowled a 224 in game one of a 641 series, to give Sachem its second win.

Sachem East, Sachem North Cheerleading Compete in Smithtown

Sachem North cheerleading took a second place finish at the Smithtown East competition on January 6, while Sachem East took sixth.
