Alum Christiansen Makes Most of Tulane Experience, Enrolls at U. of Illinois for Ph.D.

At Sachem he was a member of the robotics team and earned his Eagle Scout honors, now he’s off to really big things

Daniel Christiansen, who graduated from Sachem East in 2014, graduated from Tulane University on May 19 with a BSE in Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering.

Christiansen now sets his sights on a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago, where he will enroll in the fall.

While at Tulane in 2016, he held the position of Southeastern Louisiana Area Council President with Boy Scouts of America Venturing. Through that position, he worked with local High School Venturing crews and helped mentor them in what venturing has to offer for scouts after they turn 18.

He was the first Regent for the Colony of Theta Tau fraternity at Tulane University.  As one of three original founders of Theta Tau at Tulane, he did a lot to grow the membership, which now stands at 124 students as of last month.

They were recently granted “Chapter” status and officially recognized in early April when both national and regional representatives came to Tulane to celebrate the “Nu Epsilon chapter of Theta Tau at Tulane University.”

Daniel also served as Regional Conference Chair when they hosted the Southeast Regional meeting for Theta Tau in February 2018. Over 200 attendees came to New Orleans for this weekend of meetings and networking.
