Record Number of Vehicles Highlight Sachem North Car Show

Event raises more than $4,000 that will be used for future holiday toy drive

Sachem High School North held its 11th annual car show sponsored by the Sachem North Leo’s Club in late May. More than 100 cars were on display, the most in event history.

The school collectively raised approximately $4,000 and all proceeds go to the Sachem North Toy Drive and to Scholarships for the graduating seniors each year.

The Leo’s Club stands for Leadership Experience Opportunity, it’s a club that is based off the idea of helping others. The event was organized byJackie Paynter, President of the Leo’s club and a senior at Sachem North.

“I love seeing how people come together for one thing, when people can work together for something or towards something they forget about the differences we all have, because we’re working together,” Paynter said. “A big thank you goes out to the many Sachem fathers who have been part of this for the past 11 years, like Mr. Cruz, and Mr. Pattigno. Without them none of this would have been possible.”

“As I leave Sachem, and the Leo’s club, I know that where ever I go I’ll be able to help others with the skills I’ve gotten from Leo’s and know how to take charge of something and to get it done,” added Paynter.

Sophomore Molly Pierce, vice president of the Leo’s, believes the student club will continue to grow and, perhaps, have their work spread beyond the walls of just Sachem.

“The events we work towards are a great way to bring our community together,” said Pierce. “Walking around the show yesterday and getting to see all of the car enthusiasts gather around each one pulling up was truly amazing, especially knowing that it’s our club’s dedication and effort that creates this welcoming event.”
