Amplo Named Lacrosse Coach at Navy

Latest career move puts Sachem alum at prestigious service academy

Sachem Hall of Famer Joe Amplo is on the move. He has been hired as the head men’s lacrosse coach at Navy, leaving his post at Marquette University after seven seasons and eight years.

Amplo, a two-sport athlete at Sachem in football and lacrosse, was inducted to the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. He gave the commencement address last June at Sachem North.

In 2018 he was the assistant coach on Team USA at the World Lacrosse Championships and will be an assistant again in 2022 at the next games.

Amplo played at Hofstra and coached there for 10 seasons as an assistant before starting the program at Marquette.

He is now the eighth coach in the 112 year history of Navy lacrosse.
