Sachem North’s Dibble commits to Binghamton

Screen Shot 2016-04-23 at 12.43.46 PMSachem North junior Sarah Dibble has committed to play soccer at Binghamton.

She recently spoke with Sachem Report about playing soccer at the next level.

Sachem Report: Why did you decide on playing at Binghamton?

Sarah Dibble: “When it came to deciding what college I would like to attend in the future I was considering Hamilton, Princeton, UMass Amherst, and Binghamton. I choose Binghamton to continue my soccer career because Binghamton’s women’s soccer program just hired a new head Coach Neel Bhattacharjee, former assistant coach for both Syracuse and Boston College. I believe that Coach Bhattacharjee’s motivation to compete at a high level, and his philosophy on how he is going to do it, was a big influence on my decision when deciphering between schools. For me, Binghamton has the perfect combination of competitive academics and athletics.”

SR: What does it mean for you to be a student-athlete at Sachem?

SD: “I’ve been a starter on North’s varsity soccer team since I was in the eighth grade. I started out as an outside back for North my eighth grade year and once I entered high school I was moved up to offensive center mid and forward. My best moment playing for Sachem was after two years not making it to playoffs, making it this year and scoring in the out-bracket game against Bay Shore. Besides soccer, I play lacrosse at Sachem as well. I played junior varsity lacrosse in the eighth grade and made the varsity team as a ninth grader. Unlike soccer where I play an offensive position, in lacrosse I am strictly defense.

“There are so many positives about being a student athlete at Sachem. All the coaches I’ve ever had at Sachem taught me what discipline, teamwork, hard work, and perseverance is. Also being part of a sports team brings you friends instantaneously and I’ve made life long friendships. I’m sad that I’m entering my senior year because I’ve made so many memories being a Sachem athlete but I am excited and looking forward to my future at Binghamton University.”
