Sachem Football Week 8: Inside the Arrows

A weekly look into the history and stats of both Sachem East and Sachem North football.

Sachem North 49, Connetquot 28

  • Sachem is making its fourth straight appearance in the Suffolk County Division I playoffs next Friday. Prior to a five-season lull from 2004-2008, Sachem had played in the post-season 22 straight years.
  • Sachem has won six or more games in 23 of its 51 seasons.
  • Sachem has now scored 273 points this season, which ranks sixth all-time in program history. The record is 422 set in 2010.
  • Sachem has also allowed 229 points, which is the second most in program history. The record is 265 set in 1966.
  • Sachem has scored 49 or more points just 12 times in program history. Eight of the 12 times have happened since 2003.
  • This was the 280th game played in Sachem football history (280-166-18).
  • Sachem is 21-8-2 all-time against Connetquot and has outscored the Thunderbirds, 661-338, since their rivalry started in 1980.
  • Sachem has won the last four games against Connetquot and 12 of the last 14 dating back to 1995.
  • Sachem out gained Connetquot, 448-298, in total offensive yards this week.
  • Sachem is 23-0 on the turf at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium since 2009.
  • Sachem is 37-14-2 all-time in Week 8 games.
  • The 77 combined points for Sachem and Connetquot in Week 8 rank fifth all-time for combined points scored in a Sachem football game. The record is 125 set during Week 2 against Bay Shore.
  • The 200 club … Pierre put together the 10th 200-plus yard rushing performance for Sachem since 2007. Dalton Crossan owns five of those performances.
  • The Malik Pierre File: Pierre had 356 all purpose yards and 201 rushing yards against Connetquot, both career highs. He now has 1,123 career rushing yards and is the 19th player in Sachem football history to reach the 1,000-yard mark. He currently ranks No. 17 all-time on the Sachem football rushing list.
  • The Kevin Bragaglia File: Brags recorded his sixth interception this season against Connetquot. He ranks third all-time for single-season interceptions. The record is 9 set by Bryan Gil in 2004. The career record is 10 set by Justin Dowling in 1999-2000.
  • The Bryan Morris File: Morris was a perfect 7-for-7 with extra-point attempts against Connetquot, improving his carer total to 116 PATs. He is six away from breaking the Long Island record of 121 held by East Islip’s Sean Moller.

Sachem East 21, Brentwood 0

  • Sachem East has clinched a playoff spot for the second straight season for the first time in program history.
  • Sachem East head coach Mark Wojciechowski now has 10 career victories, tying Al Bertalone with the most in program history.
  • Sachem East has won four or more games in five of its nine seasons of existence since 2004.
  • Saturday’s game against Brentwood was the 75th game in program history (29-46).
  • Sachem East is 4-3 against Brentwood all-time.
  • Sachem East is 4-5 all-time in Week 8 games.
  • This was the fifth shutout in program history and first since Week 4 of the 2011 season against Ward Melville.
  • The Steve Casali File: Casali now has 1,178 rushing yards this season and 12 touchdowns. He has 2,914 career rushing yards and is just shy of 3,000, a mark no other player has reached in Sachem East history.
