Sachem East field hockey star Katie Trombetta and coach Tina Moon stopped by the MSG Varsity studio this week to chat with High School Sports Desk host Steve Gelbs about their championship season.
“I’m still shocked from what we did last year and going into this year, I never expected it,” said Moon. “I have to give credit to the kids on my team. I think they bought into the philosophy of what we’re trying to do.”
Sachem East won its second straight state title this season and finished a perfect 22-0.
Asked about making a verbal commitment to play at the University of Michigan, Trombetta showed instant excitement about her future.
“The fact that my mom went there and knowing how much she loved it, I get to experience a great college with a great team and a great atmosphere,” she said.
