North to host Festival of Trees and Lights

The scene during last year’s Festival of Trees and Lights.

The Sachem North Father’s Club will host its annual Festival of Trees and Lights on Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Admission is $2, $1 for students, and free for children under 7 years old and for those who bring an unwrapped toy as a donation.

Each paid admission entitles you to one free raffle ticket which you can use to vote on your favorite tree. The winning tree will be donated to a local hospital. Your raffle ticket will also entitle you to a chance to win a basket of goodies.

This will be a student driven, community supported exhibition of holiday spirit designed to raise money not only for student groups and student scholarships, but also for local charities, such as Sachem North Food Pantry, Cleary School for the Deaf, The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation and Strike Out Diabetes. Proceeds will also go to help the victims of Superstorm Sandy in the Sachem community.

This event will feature a wide variety of decorations designed and produced by student clubs and organizations, including trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses and garlands representing an even wider variety of cultures and nationalities.

There will be local craft vendors and live entertainment.

Sponsors and participants will be recognized on the Father’s Club website, in the Scholarship Newsletter, and in the “Connections” newsletter.

For more information, or to make a donation, please contact Mr. Jose Cruz, Assistant Principal, at 631-471-1400 ext. 5530.
