The Sachem East wrestling squad continued its strong start to the 2012-2013 season by winning the Long Island Challenge. The Arrows went 5-0 winning all their dual meets over the two days at the event held at MacArthur High School.

Sachem East opened up with a 60-19 victory over Half Hollow Hills West. In the second round Sachem soundly defeated Section I power Clarkstown South, 70-9. In round 3, the Arrows took on host MacArthur, who is currently ranked second in Nassau County. After a hard fought battle, the Arrows prevailed, 42-30.

A comfortable 81-4 win over Kellenberg set up a title match with Islip. Sachem East was able to top Islip 41-21 on the strength of key pins from Mark Tracy, Christian Nunuez, Josh Edmonson and Jackson Mordente, and Conor O’Hara added a tech fall to help the Sachem East lock up the title.

Sachem was lead throughout the event by O’Hara, Mordente, Nunez and Josh “the giant” Edmonson, who all finished with perfect 5-0 records.

Doug Iadanza, Anthony Messina, Pete Longo, Mike Pistone, Mark Tracy, Zac Nobre, and John Vigh all finished 4-1 on the day.

Sachem East is now 12-0 this season.
