Five football players from the Sachem Central School District were selected to the All-State team by the New York State Sportswriters Association, announced this week on RoadToSyracuse.com.
Sachem East’s Steven Casali was selected to the First Team, besting his spot as a sixth team selection last year. Sachem North’s Steve Mills was selected to the Fourth Team, while Tyler Andreassi (North), Mike Marchello (East) and Ryan Dippel (East) were all honorable mention selections.
This is the fourth straight year that Sachem North has had an All-State selection. Andreassi joins his brother Michael (2010- Second Team) as the first brother tandem to make All-State from Sachem.
Mills is the first Sachem lineman to make All-State since James Thompson (Sixth Team) in 2010.
Aside from the announcement of selections to the Outback Empire Challenge all-star game this summer at Hofstra to represent Long Island, this culminates the individual honors players will receive for the 2012 football season.
