Sachem East alum Anthony Pistone was named Pilgrim Wrestling League Rookie of the Week for his success on the mat at Southern Maine.
Wrestling at 165 pounds, Pistone defeated Torin Zonfrelli of WPI 3-2 to help the Huskies to a 24-19 win, and wrestling up two classes at 184 pounds, pinned Plymouth State grappler Taylor Lozier in 4:57 for the 27-19 win, according to a release from Southern Maine’s Athletic Department.
The pin was Pistone’s fifth of the season and improved his dual meet record to 5-3, the school said.
Pistone was a two-year letter winner at Sachem East.
