East’s National Merit scholars honored

Suffolk County Leg. Tom Muratore (R, Ronkonkoma) recently recognized two students from Sachem High School East who were named in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Alan Mohr and Ivan Guan were among approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the United States who have been recognized for their exceptional academic promise in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2013.

Muratore awarded proclamations to the two young men at the February General Meeting of the Legislature. One of the students, Alan Mohr, was present for the acknowledgement.

“It is important to recognize the young people who strive for excellence and serve as positive role models,” said Muratore. “Alan and Ivan worked hard for this prestigious award, and I congratulate them on this accomplishment
