Students at Lynwood Avenue Elementary took part in The History of Farmingville and Essay Awards event recently.

Members of the Farmingville Residents Association, as well as the Farmingville Historical Society, were on hand to give a presentation and answer questions about the history of Farmingville.

One student per grade level was presented with an award for writing the best essay about the town. The topic was “What do you want Farmingville to look like when you grow up?”

There was also a chinese auction, a Kindle auction, TCBY, popcorn and cupcakes for sale, and notebooks with images of the historic school house on them for purchase.

Brookhaven Councilwoman Kathleen Walsh was also in attendance.
