Most people have likened Sachem East’s first couple of playoff games each year as an appetizer for its main course, the final four, and the same menu is shaping up this season.
On Thursday night, Sachem East beat Brentwood, 61-31, in a first round Suffolk County Class AA match-up in Farmingville.
Second-seeded Sachem East (16-2) was led by Katie Doherty, who scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds and five assists, as well as Kathleen Everson, who had 13 points, nine rebounds and one assist.
East will host No. 7 Riverhead in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Riverhead comes into the game having beaten No. 10 Hills East, 61-36.
